For our first decaf roasted specifically for filter, there was only one choice: Ethiopia. This washed lot from Mike Mamo’s Telila Washing Station has been decaffeinated using the natural sugarcane process—retaining everything we love about Ethiopian coffee. It’s clean, balanced, and full of clarity, with notes of caramel, lemon iced tea, and orange zest.
The Producer
Mike Mamo, a seasoned agronomist and second-generation coffee producer, leads Addis Exporter—a family enterprise founded by his father over 50 years ago. In 2019, Mike acquired the Telila Washing Station in Kecho Anderacha, Gera, within Ethiopia’s Jimma region. Situated at approximately 2,000 meters above sea level, Telila collaborates with over 50 local smallholder farmers to produce exceptional coffees.
Under Mike’s leadership, Telila has become synonymous with innovation and quality in Ethiopian specialty coffee, reflecting a deep commitment to community, tradition, and excellence
The Coffee
Crafted with purpose at Telila Washing Station in Jimma, this sugarcane decaf is a testament to Mike Mamo’s dedication to quality and innovation. Known for pushing boundaries in Ethiopian coffee processing, Mike selected this washed lot for decaffeination using the natural sugarcane method in Colombia—preserving the coffee’s vibrant character while gently removing caffeine.
